How to solve inverter soft faults

In daily industrial production, the equipment works continuously, and it is inevitable that various types of faults will occur, causing the machine to stop running.

There are many cases of soft faults in frequency converters, which are common faults in the actual working process of various frequency converters.

How should we reduce the occurrence of soft faults in frequency converters?

Methods to reduce inverter soft faults:

1.     Overvoltage and undervoltage of the inverter;

Overvoltage alarm usually occurs when the equipment is shut down. The main reason is that the deceleration time is too short or there is a problem with the brake resistor and brake unit.

Undervoltage is also a problem often encountered in actual work. It is mainly because the main circuit voltage is too low (220V series is lower than 200V, 380V series is lower than 400V).

The main reason: damage to the rectifier bridge or abnormal operation of the three-way thyristor may cause undervoltage faults. Secondly, damage to the main circuit contactor may cause DC bus voltage loss on the charging resistor, which may cause undervoltage. There is also a problem of undervoltage caused by a fault in the voltage detection circuit.

2. Overcurrent is a phenomenon in which the inverter frequently alarms.

The main manifestations of overcurrent are:

(1) When restarting, the inverter trips when the speed is increased. This is a serious overcurrent phenomenon. The main reasons are: load short circuit, mechanical parts are stuck; inverter module is damaged; motor torque is too small, etc.

(2) It trips when powered on. This phenomenon generally cannot be reset. The main reasons are: module is broken, drive circuit is broken, current detection circuit is broken.

(3) It does not trip immediately when restarting but when accelerating. The main reasons are: acceleration time is set too short, current upper limit is set too small, torque compensation (V/F) is set too high.

In actual use, pay attention to the operation of the inverter. Combine actual use with the right medicine to find a suitable solution
